Over the past week I’ve had the pleasure of touring London alongside attending a phenomenal event hosted by two of my favorite brands, Red Bull and Puma. Here’s what I experienced meeting Daniel Ricciardo, Daniil Kvyazt and taking in the 2016 team product and new car livery.
Needless to say, it was breathtaking; I absolutely loved every minute of being there.
Now, while touring London for the first time was a treat, my favorite experience without a doubt, was the event itself.
The new partnership event in London reveled a striking new team look with eye-catching product designs, talented street dancers, and a bold new Red Bull Racing car livery. Of course, the lighting show, music and after show celebrations made the experience all the better. Alongside the stand-out show, Daniel Ricciardo, Daniil Kvyat and Christian Horner were in attendance too; such a treat!
It all started at the Old Truman Brewery, just a few blocks down the road from the Ace Hotel I was staying at. After a quick walk through all the beards and bicycles on the streets, I arrived and picked up my Media press pass. Inside, there were hundreds of other guests chatting with as much excitement as I had about the concealed F1 car.
Before the unveiling, the powerful performance machine I thought was under the drape was actually a model before being morphed into the real deal. The actual F1 car itself, rolled out in a really surprising and dramatic manner alongside with the new Puma Red Bull Racing product collection. Street dancers amped up the crowed with an energetic routine just before my eyes could take in the spectacular new look for the 2016 livery.
During the event, I got a great look at the new Puma product designs that featured the all-new Stampede; a graphic illustration of charging bulls. It could be found on everything from the race suits worn by Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat to the replica styles, lifestyle collection and more.
As someone who is really passionate about graphic design, this bold new look captured the strength and determination of Red Bull Racing to perfection. Needless to say, the new 2016 look was brilliantly done; I was impressed! With the partnership of Puma and Red Bull it’s easy to see just how the two are pushing beyond the boundaries of product design and racewear technology in F1.
Interesting enough, I remember Christian Horner talking about moving away from patches to screen-printed designs in an attempt to shave a few grams of weight off the driver suits. It’s truly quite incredible how even all the small details matter so much in the pursuit of victory. When put in the simplest of words, “Faster Together”. It’s the unifying hunger that drives both brands forward at the core.
While I was there, I also had the opportunity to meet and interview both drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat in person. I cannot express how terrific it was to meet them! Shortly, I’ll be adding all the questions and responses here. Make sure you check back in a little while.
Red Bull Racing driver Daniel Ricciardo said, “There’s always a buzz in F1 at this time of year and launching the new car livery, race wear and a new team look like we did today gets the season started in a fun way. It’s pretty cool to be with PUMA, they’re a brand who get who we are and you can see that in the product designs revealed today. It’s a bit of an understatement to say I’m excited to drive the new car next week – I can’t wait! I’m ready to work through the pre-season programme and then finally get racing in Melbourne.”
Red Bull Racing driver Daniil Kvyat added, “We’re all looking forward to the new season and the launch today was a really good way to start it. The new team kit and lifestyle look that PUMA has designed is great, and I think the fans will also really like the replica wear we have this year. PUMA’s development into the performance and comfort of racewear is really impressive. We spend hours at a time in the car, often in very extreme conditions, so having gloves, suits and bodywear that protects you is so important for us.”
PUMA’s Global Marketing Director Adam Petrick said; “It’s fantastic to kick off our partnership with Red Bull Racing through an event that represents both brands so well. PUMA enjoys many synergies with Red Bull Racing, and there’s enormous energy and excitement in both teams to bring our partnership to life in unique and creative ways – through product design, marketing and fan engagement. Our aim was to reveal a new team kit and car livery in a way that breaks with tradition and we’ll continue to push the boundaries of this partnership through the years ahead.”
Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner said; “Seeing our new livery for this year alongside our new teamwear from PUMA was a proud moment for us. PUMA have done a very impressive job with the design of the team kit, replica and lifestyle product lines. There has been a lot of work behind the scenes to get ready for this, and it has all paid off with today’s event which I think has only built our excitement for the season ahead.”
The replica and lifestyle collections:
Great news! They became available on February 18th and are now available in select stores around the world. Everything from the reversible windbreaker with the tonal stampede mesh to the shoes worn by the team mechanics with Puma’s legendary performance running Ignite technology. Even my personal favorite piece, the all over tee with the full body stampede print is available.
When I got back to the hotel after the celebrations the first thing I did was put on the all over tee. The stampede print offers some serious points in terms of style, while the tee itself was ultra-soft and without question, the most comfortable tee I’ve ever worn!
