Jaguar has unveiled their all-new first true two-seater, the 2013 Jaguar F-Type, and while it won’t replace the E-Type from fifty years ago, it’s an impressive and spirited vehicle. Arriving as a powerful, ultra-precise and soft-top convertible sports car, Jaguar has reignited the spark their seventy years of rich sporting history. The two-seater comes available with three models to choose from, all ranging in performance power:
The 340-horsepower F-type, the 380-horsepower F-Type S, and the 495-horswpower powerhouse known as the F-type V8 S. The lesser two models, the F-Type and the F-Type S sport a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, with 340 hp / 332 lb-ft and 380 hp / 339 lb-ft. While the F-Type V8 S being the top of the line model, with a supercharged 495 hp / 460 lb-ft V8, will blast you from 0 to 60 in just 4.2 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 186 miles per hour.
That power is handled flawless thanks to its 8-speed ZF “Quick Shift” automatic transmission, however it’s expected to be released with a manual transmission in an ever higher trim R model. For now you’ll find a center console mounted Sport Shift gear shifter as well as steering wheel mounted paddles. Combine the Jaguar’s incredible horsepower, with its agile transmission, and the last thing needed is its lightweight aluminum architecture for perfectly balanced weight distribution.
In addition, the Jaguar F-Type also features an available configurable dynamics program to provide the driver with a more personal experience, plus displays for monitoring lap times and g-meter functions. As well, you’ll have access to the all-new Intelligent Stop and Start system, which aside from being easy to use, has been shown to increase the fuel economy. And without stopping, you’ll also notice the convertible top is able to fold and close at 30 miles per out in just under 12 seconds flat.
