Priced well below $100, the Invicta 1517 I Force chronograph watch makes the mark for being one of the best watches for men in its price range. With its bold approach to style and military-like impression, this watch is driven by pure aesthetic design. Starting from the outside it’s incredibly rugged, with a round 45mm black ion-plated stainless steel case. It also has a fixed bezel, plus you’ll find a textured crown on the two pushers located on the left side of the case. Which is one of the biggest benefits we saw from this design; it’s the fact that your left wrist doesn’t get torn into all day long. Yet keeping in mind the durable theme, there’s also a hardened mineral crystal paired to the black casing for both a superior look and quality in protection. However despite day to day wearing, it seemed to take a beating quite well, so if you’re like us and wear it to work you don’t really have to worry about scratches. Plus it’s also water resistant for up to 330 feet or 100 meters if you happen to hit the pool or go swimming.
Underneath this cover is a marvelous black dial with over-sized, stenciled Arabic numeral hour markers colorized in white. There’s also three chronograph sub dials where you’ll find a sixty second, sixty minute and one tenth of a second sub dial. For the hands themselves we loved the fact that they are luminous, plus driven by a solid performing Japanese Quartz Movement. Other features we liked were the tachometer scale which can be located on the inner bezel, which fits together really well within the style of watch. Not to mention there’s also a date display window which you can find located at the four o’clock position. And when you’re ready to put it on you’ll notice the smooth black cloth strap which feels durable and seems to be of a fair construction. On the inside of this watch strap is a leather backing, which makes the Invicta 1517 I Force, one ultra comfortable watch.
For a few fore warnings, remember this watch is pretty big, we’d compare it more to a 50mm watch in terms of how you look at it. The Invicta 1517 I Force chronograph men’s watch is also pretty thick so keep that in mind as well. Not to mention, the band doesn’t seem to last forever, so it’s best to switch it out for another one if you plan to wear this day-to-day. But can you really argue with that when in reality this appears to be more like a $700 or more value. In terms of the watch it’s quite surprising it’s price so low, because while it might be made of Japanese components, it’s actually a really high quality and has a phenomenal style.
Over all it’s a fantastic looking watch you’re sure to get compliments on. And thanks to its simple and easy to read face, large size, and overall value we’re putting this one at the top of our list for the best men’s watches for under $100.
