Starting as a small operation in 1987, Darrel Ralph Designs wouldn’t make its first sale until 1992.
From this point on, Darrel Ralph Designs would become the industry-wide recognized company it is today.
The company mission statement for Darrel Ralph Designs is simple. Basically, they produce incredibly high-quality hard use tools which are designed and built to last in the harshest environments on our planet.
Through word of mouth, real-world experience, and design excellence, DDR would gain a strong reputation as one of the best. To prove their commitment to customer satisfaction, DDR offers one of the best policies in the industry.
If you aren’t satisfied with your product inside the first seven day inspection period they will refund you in full. After seven days they will do their best to make it right. Rare in today’s market.
Knives made by DDR are intended to be used as designed. They are real tools that people depend on in extreme circumstances. For over two and a half decades, DDR has achieved precisely this with integrity and artistic style. People who know this first hand covet these tools as prized possessions, and rightfully so.
Want 1911 grips in titanium with a custom finish? DDR fills this niche beautifully. In addition to knives, they make world-class gun parts, pens, and other unique gear. You need to check them out for one of a kind custom pieces that you aren’t likely to see most using (though they should be!).

Darrel Ralph Dominator Ventilator Carbon Fiber II Knife Review
Can I just say, Wow?
I picked up a Dominator Ventilator knife at Show Shot, and I can safely say it is one my favorites knives from the show.
I am an avid outdoorsman, but I also collect knives and it was really hard not to just put this beauty up for display. It serves so well as both an executive knife as well as a tactical EDC knife. I just couldn’t resist carrying it around. This knife is a trendy, rough variation to the classics in the line with the triple milled grooves slotted into it and the lanyard hole. The groves provide a weightlessness that’s hard to ignore when in use.
Hunting, fishing, camping and any other outdoor sport all require a good knife and this one has so many extras to boot. The blade is about three and a half inches long, .160-inch-thick, and made of CPM-S35VN stainless steel.
It has a black DLC coating and a stone-washed finish with extended tang that is pretty stunning. One of my favorite things about this knife is how easily it opens. The Darrel Ralph company has a patented Maxx Glide caged Pivot Bearing System with an unabashedly aggressive detent. The flip action is unbelievable.
It comes with a nylon storage bag that zips up for added protection. It keeps it safe from scratches and dings in the finish as well as dust and debris. Another big selling point for me is that it is an American made product.
The Texas facility makes 100% of their knives. The titanium pocket clip is another handy feature. It is mounted for tip-up, right-side carrying and extremely convenient. The handle is made of blueish black titanium and carbon fiber.
The last word on this knife is you just can’t go wrong.
