Fisker Launches the Ocean SUV – An Electric SUV for Under $40,000
Fisker has rung the bell at the New York Stock Exchange as the electric car manufacturer establishes its new headquarters in Manhattan Beach alongside the introduction of its brand-new Ocean SUV.
Dubbed Inception, Fisker’s new hub in the South Bay will be integral in delivering the Ocean SUV’s first complete designs. Providing detailed samples from over 300 engineering and design professionals, the project is expected to hit the market at the end of 2022.
Making its debut at CES 2020, Fisker Inc. chairman and CEO, Henrik Fisker, revealed the company’s intentions to “to disrupt the automotive industry by challenging all conventions,” something he described as “no small feat.”
“We truly believe we are entering a new era where customers are driving the demand for radical change. People want mobility as a service, delivered through exciting, affordable vehicles with a hassle-free experience.
We have delivered the Fisker Ocean in record time: not just another show vehicle, but a drivable production-intent prototype sitting on a fully engineered and durability-tested platform, with a production-ready powertrain and battery pack. The future is about delivering product value, sustainability and a unique customer experience.”
Fitted with a fully sourced, validated, and tested, state-of-the-art battery, with >80 kWh capacity and a range of up to 300 miles, the Fisker Ocean is a sustainably capable choice at only US$37,499.
Aiming for the title of “world’s most sustainable vehicle,” Fisker goes beyond just an electric motor with solar panels on the roof, an interior crafted from recycled materials, and a compact appearance despite lots of space inside. Using lightweight materials, the Ocean SUV guarantees the highest levels of safety and the maximum possible range.
One of the cooler features is California Mode. This patented feature allows drivers to easily open up the entire cabin with just one touch to create a genuinely open-air feeling. Lowering the nine glass window panels, the Ocean SUV still maintains a full roll cage safety structure.
Even Mayor Richard Montgomery is excited about Fisker’s newly established headquarters and the prospect of further economic growth in the city. “Fisker is exactly the type of company we hoped to attract here, as they match our commitment to the environment,” said Montgomery. “For the city, it reflects the fact that environmentally based businesses want to be based here.”
Planning to produce up to 25 different vehicles, Fisker will soon be unveiling a sports car named the Emotion, alongside other models being conceptualized at Inception. On the other hand, Fisker is still working hard to verify all the design requirements throughout durability testing.
To reserve your Fisker Ocean SUV, you’ll need to download the Fisker mobile app.
Streamlining the entire process, drivers can ensure they get behind the wheel of this All-Electric Luxury SUV for just US$379 per month. Additional specifications will be released via Fisker’s proprietary FLEXEE app in the coming months, so stay tuned for more all-electric goodness.
