Nicolas Cage Plays Himself in Star Studded Action Comedy
Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage is set to play himself in a new comedy called The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
The official teaser trailer from Lionsgate has garnered plenty of views since first being released, with many Cage fans (myself included) keen to see him play a fictionalized version of himself, where he takes on aspects of his greatest film roles within a larger, more dangerous adventure.
According to the notes from Lionsgate, “Creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalized version of Cage must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous superfan. Things take a wildly unexpected turn when Cage is recruited by a CIA operative and forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones.”
I can’t think of a more Nicolas Cage role to play than himself in an action movie.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent will be released in April 2022 and will also star Pedro Pascal, Tiffany Haddish, Sharon Horgan, Ike Barinholtz, Alessandra Mastronardi, Jacob Scipio, Lily Sheen, and Neil Patrick Harris.
