After owning a handful of them myself, I’ve come to associate anything Mystery Ranch with quality. The Mission Rover is no exception.

Coyote Mystery Ranch Mission Rover Review
With a soft-sided exterior and dimensions of 22 by 13 by 11 inches, gone are the days of jamming a carry-on bag that won’t fit into an overhead bin.
Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice space at all. The Mission Rover features a generous 43-liter internal volume making it perfect for short overnight trips to a week plus spent touring places around the globe. A tour of Italy anyone?
Best of all, this travel pack is far lighter than your featherlight suitcase, at a mere 3.5 pounds.
Where the prize of this pack comes into play, can be found with the innovative three-way carry system. If you want to hold it by the top of the pack, you can. If you want to hold the bag sideways, a side handle makes that possible too. And if for whatever treason your arms are tired, hidden shoulder straps can pop out to convert this travel bag into the perfect backpack.
Beyond the above, I’ve also come to really enjoy just how well Mystery Ranch laid out the Mission Rover in terms of organization. For starters, there’s a dedicated dirty laundry compartment for soiled clothing and footwear compartment for muddy boots or shoes.
While these two ideas may be simple, they are innovative, and I’m thrilled to see someone thinking of how people use packs in the real world. Personally, I love these compartments!
On the interior, you’ll also find mono-mesh see-through internal dividers, which makes accessing your cargo without it falling out or shift everywhere possible. Look further inside, and there’s a padded (up to 15”) laptop sleeve that snugs my MacBook Pro perfectly in place, alongside an iPad /or tablet pocket.
For accessing your small items on the fly, Mystery Ranch has included a handy front pocket on the exterior. I’ve found it to be the perfect place for storing everything from pens, chapstick, my phone, passport, etc. Not to mention, the clam-shell zippered accessibility makes packing everything up a breeze to begin with.
If you travel as much as I do, you’ll know one thing is true: You need a travel pack that can take a beating. Luckily, Mystery Ranch doesn’t skip a beat when it comes to craftsmanship, quality, and durability. The exterior metal Mystery Ranch metal branded badge should give you some insight as to how much exceptional attention to detail goes into every pack. Hint: It’s a lot!
You’ll find heavy-duty YKK zippers, a rugged 500D Cordura main body construction, and 200D nylon interior liner. Factor in Mystery Ranch’s admirable stitch work and you’ve got a travel buddy that’s built for life.
Lastly, concerning comfort, Mystery Ranch truly understands how to master it. One of my favorite shoulder strap setups of all time can be found on their Marshall pack. Sure, this pack isn’t built for hauling heavy hunting loads, but for a travel pack, I can sense that same ingenious strap design inspiration shifting over.
In other words, you can load this pack full, and it will still feel like heaven on your back.
