From tactical missions spent overseas to laying down tile back at home, a solid pair of elbow and knee pads always come in handy. Let’s face it, the knees and elbows can only handle so much shock absorption before they ultimately give out.

Luckily you can protect these critical areas of the body rather easily with a pair of Alta Industries knee and elbow pads. Of course, you can also reduce early fatigue and improve your workload too with a pair of their Contour 360 Vibram caps.

Alta Industries AltaCONTOUR 360 Vibram Cap Tactical Elbow And Knee Pads Review
Unlike other cheap knee pads which end up around your ankles, and elbow pads which end up on your lower forearms, Alta Industries Contour 360 Vibram caps stay in place exactly where you want them. On the elbow pads, you’ll find an AltaGrip hook and loop fastening system to acquire the perfect secure fit.
On the knee pads, you’ll find an AltaLOK easy on and off fastening system, which snaps and locks into place with ease. Simply hook the open loop over the button stud and you’re good to go. Best of all, the AltaLOK fastening system is dead quiet, making it the ultimate answer for tactical situations where Velcro is just too loud.
While the knee pads and elbow pads differ on fastening systems, both impressed me greatly! I was easily able to obtain a tight, secure fit while still retaining a natural amount of movement with zero restrictions. I gave it my best shot at forcing these knee and elbow pads to slide down, but in the end, I had no luck.
Once they’re on, their one. Simply put, you never have to worry about your protective gear shifting around and restricting your movement.
Now, usually when I’m wearing your standard knee or elbow pads I feel almost like I’m walking around in a suit of armor in certain spots, but Alta Industries felt the opposite. Their Contour 360 Vibram cap line is extremely lightweight and ridiculously flexible. After wearing both of these items for hours I had completely forgotten that I had strapped them onto my body.
The generous amount of padding lends itself to a super comfortable feel, while the breathability is top notch. While you might think that the additional padding would soak up sweat and create hot spots, I was rather surprised to notice that this wasn’t the case. In reality, Alta Industries’
knee and elbow pads remained cool and dried way faster than I expected.
Surprises aside, what really drew me to these knee and elbow pads at first glance was the Vibram design. It’s something I had never seen done before on a knee/elbow pad. I had seen the Vibram design put on outdoor/hunting/hiking shoes at Shot Show but that was about it. You might be wondering how well it translates to the knees and elbows. Well, truth be told, it’s exceptional!
With the Vibram design, I’m able to really dig into any surface (including wet/slippery ones) and get a rock-solid grip. With a standard round cap design, I often would find my knees and elbows slipping around, but the Vibram cap has changed the game! In reality, I have a really tough time imagining how it’s possible to improve on such an already excellent level of grip.
Grip aside, the Vibram design in my mind, is going to easily stand up to the rigors of urban and mountainous environments. Indoor or outdoor, Alta Industries knee and elbow pads are going to last you a long time. Needless to say, the build quality is beautiful. With 37 plus years making knee and elbow pads, it’s pretty easy to see how Alta Industries has mastered the two when it comes to achieving a brilliant construction.
