15,000-Square-Foot Riverfront Ledgerock House on Hudson Listed for Sale
The Hudson River’s elegance is known far and wide, and now a not-so-small parcel of it is up for grabs. A 15,000-square-foot riverfront estate has been listed for sale. A rare gem, the property was constructed on the riverfront’s edge before local laws were enacted to forbid it.
Up-close-and-personal with the current of the Hudson River, the Ledgerock House is unique in a handful of ways. For example, it’s an architectural marvel. Designed by architect Lee Ledbetter, the structure is covered in French limestone on the outside and natural woods and stone within.
Its massive size is also impressive. The steel-frame build supports five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and a theatre for movie nights at home. The next homeowner is sure going to revel in the finer things in life with private access to their own indoor pool, spa, and gym.
Outside, the fun continues where 5,000 square feet of travertine decking await with a built-in gunite saltwater pool, fire pit, and swanky hot tub. There’s even a decent kitchen for painless entertaining. We see it now: hot tub, bubbly, the stars, and listening to the Hudson River drifting by.
Of course, with digs this outstanding, everybody will want to pay a visit to offer the new property owner a happy housewarming. With 10 acres of land, an apartment for on-site employees, a guest house, and an 18-car garage, the estate has plenty of room for friends and family.
In fact, the owner and the guests have the option of arriving by land, air, or sea. A helipad and a dock for boats and water toys score extra convenience points. Seaplanes are reportedly welcome, too.
Art fans can rejoice all the same. The property comes with a collection of over 50 sculptures on the grounds. New Yorkers who want to hang out by one of the four fireplaces can breathe a sigh of relief – the property is a mere hour-and-a-half drive from Manhattan.
The listing calls the house a “modern masterpiece directly on the banks of the Hudson River,” adding, “A once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a breathtaking, gated estate [that] can never be built again.”
Building the home took five years. The well-known Ledbetter wanted to get the architecture just right so that it would showcase the desirable Catskill Moutain Landscape.
The Hyde Park, NY property sits on 46 Ledgerock Lane. The five-bed, seven-and-a-half-bath is presented by Corcoran Country Living. They have listed the home for $45,000,000 (annual tax: $79,714.00). That’s an estimated mortgage payment of $168,298.92 per month.
