What Animals Cause the Most Dangerous Bites?

Not every animal or human has a unique superpower, but they all have a dangerous bite. The most dangerous bites can have serious side effects, such as severe illness, paralysis, and even death. The question becomes, who has the most dangerous bite?

Animals all around the globe have vicious and hazardous bites. After that first bite, many latch on, and there’s no letting go. Of course, not every dangerous bite belongs to a giant animal.

Slithering in the grass or hiding under a rock, smaller creatures with venomous bites can leave their prey begging for death. Even the most harmless-looking animal can cause a world of hurt to its unsuspecting victim. Let’s dive deep into the animal kingdom to determine the most dangerous bites.

What Animals Cause the Most Dangerous Bites?

1. Saltwater Crocodile

Saltwater Crocodile

No bite compares to that of the vicious and powerful saltwater crocodile. Located in Southeast Asia and Australia, the saltwater crocodile has the most powerful bite of any creature.

They can attack, drown, and swallow any animal with their powerful bite and immense strength. They genuinely fear no shark, mammal, reptile, or human on Earth.

2. The Inland Taipan

Inland Taipan

Many snakes have a dangerous bite, but none are as painful as the inland taipan. Found living in Australia, it also goes by the name “fierce snake.” First discovered in the late 1800s, the inland taipan disappeared until its rediscovery in the 1970s. The venomous snake has enough poison to kill 100 adults with its lethal bite.

With the combination of agility and speed, the inland taipan often strikes multiple times with unparalleled accuracy. Its toxic venom is incredibly dangerous to humans. It also has one of the highest death rates when untreated. The most common reactions to its bite include convulsions, headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, and kidney failure.

3. Humans

While snakes have a reputation for their venomous bite, they have some stiff competition from an unlikely source, humans. The human bite is one of the deadliest in the world. A simple bite from a human can lead to various infections, including HIV, tetanus, herpes, and Hepatitis B and C.

The human mouth is full of hazardous bacteria that could cause severe damage. According to the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, the human mouth contains 700 types of bacteria between our teeth and tongues.

4. Brown Snake

Eastern Brown Snake

Slithering in the farmland of Australia is the deadly brown snake. Also known as the eastern brown snake, it’s the second most venomous land snake. Its pale brown skin, and grey or orange spots are easily recognizable. While its main prey is the standard house mouse, its poisonous bite can have deadly consequences for any person or animal.

The brown snake is responsible for 60% of snakebite deaths in Australia. Its venom is highly toxic, leading to instantaneous blood pressure drop and cardiac arrest.

5. German Shepherds

While many people keep German Shepherds as family pets, their dangerous bite makes them ideal for the workforce. Initially, farmers bred German Shepherds as herding dogs to help with the sheep on farms. In the present day, they make excellent police or military dogs due to their strength, athleticism, intelligence, and strong bite.

A German Shepherd’s bite force is 238 pounds per square inch. Their distant relative, the Kangal German Shepherd, has a bite of 743 psi. Their bite is so powerful they can easily subdue criminals and hold them in position until officers arrive. Criminals often flee in terror at the sight of these vicious animals.

6. Great White Shark

The apex predator of the sea is the vicious and fear-inducing great white shark. With its massive jaws, speed, and size, it’s a threat to any creature or person that crosses paths with it. The combination of its large size and deadly bite makes the great white one of the most dangerous animals on the planet.

It’s also responsible for a large number of unprovoked shark attacks on humans. It has one of the most dangerous bites of any creature in the ocean.

7. Brazilian Wandering Spider

Brazilian Wandering Spider

Found mainly in South America, the Brazilian wandering spider is one of the few spiders that are dangerous to humans. With their large fangs, they’re the most venomous spider in the world. However, their venom isn’t the only reason they’re so dangerous. They tend to hide in dark places during the daytime, choosing locations such as bathrooms, shoes, and clothing.

Furthermore, their venom leads to complications with breathing, possible paralysis, the killing of skin cells, and the stopping of the heart. While death is uncommon, it’s always a strong possibility with the Brazilian wandering spider’s bite.

8. House Cat

The house cat is known for quick reflexes, speed, and agility. While they don’t have a bite like a great white shark or brown snake, their bite can be just as painful. A bite from a cat is so minor it won’t hurt at first. However, cat bites often lead to infection because they’re difficult to clean adequately.

In fact, 80% of bites lead to an infection. Furthermore, it often results in cat scratch fever, bone infection, and pneumonia. It’s safe to say that the typical house cat can be far more dangerous than people realize. That might explain their long-standing feud with dogs.

9. Polar Bears

Polar Bears

Living around the North Pole, polar bears are one of the most powerful animals on Earth. They’re a distant relative of the brown bear but have evolved to live in cold weather.

They’re able to move on snow and ice easily and enjoy swimming in the ice-cold water to hunt their prey. Polar bears have a powerful bite force of 1200 pounds per square inch. They can easily tear a Siberian tiger apart so you can imagine what they can do to a human.

10. King Cobra

King Cobra

There isn’t a person in the world who hasn’t heard of the famous king cobra snake. It’s the longest venomous snake in the world, with the black mamba a close second. Located in southeast Asia, the king cobra has a distinct appearance with a large neck.

Its venom is highly toxic, attacking the central nervous system. The symptoms include vertigo, blurred vision, paralysis, and respiratory failure. It takes roughly 30 minutes to die from a cobra bite, although it is treatable.

11. Rottweiler

Rottweiler

Many different breeds of dogs have a reputation for a powerful bite. The various breeds of pit bulls are known for being companion dogs with a big bite to match their bark. However, Rottweilers are one the most feared breed of dogs.

While they can also be a good companion, they make excellent police dogs due to their muscular bodies, speed, and vicious bite. Depending on their training and treatment, they can have a bad temperament, making their bite all the more dangerous.

12. The Brown Recluse Spider

Brown Recluse Spider

As the name suggests, the brown recluse spider isn’t known for being aggressive. Despite their venom, they often keep to themselves. They tend to hide in old clothing or items left on the floor for long periods. Furthermore, their fangs aren’t capable of biting through clothing.

However, they strike when they feel threatened and are most dangerous when pressed against the skin. Despite the dangerous bite, it rarely leads to death. The most common symptoms are fever, rash, muscle pain, nausea, joint pain, and vomiting.
