3 Reasons Geologie’s Micro Exfoliator and 3 Minute Clay Mask Makes a Difference

3 Reasons Geologie’s Micro Exfoliator and 3 Minute Clay Mask Makes a Difference

Before we dive into Geologie’s Micro Exfoliator and 3 Minute Clay Mask let’s talk about exfoliating in general. I have coasted through most of my life with little to no energy put into my skincare routine. Whoops. With the exception of maybe needing to take my stage makeup off after a school play when I was young, I never felt like there was much of a need for a longer-term investment in my skin or the products I would choose to use.

If you’ve been following along here in recent months, you may have pieced together that I’m doing my best to change that. Across the board, it felt like time to have a tighter understanding of how and what I buy as a consumer and what purpose my investments serve in the bigger picture. As I get a little older and take note of the state of my complexion, my skin and skin care regimen have found themselves at the top of the list.

All that being said, my lack of experience causes some road bumps in understanding. Truthfully, there are a lot of key terms in the self-care realm that I need some clarification on.

One of the big ones? Exfoliant. Exfoliator. What does that even mean? I could look up the definition (I did – it means “to shed or come apart from a surface in scales or layers” – yum), but given that I’m a hands-on kind of learner, I’m using Geologie’s newest product drop as an excuse to figure it out.

Geologie became a well-trusted name in my household, especially after investing more in my own skin and body care. You can take a dive into the Next Luxury archives for a look at thoughts on other products, but today we’re focusing on their new Micro Exfoliator and 3 Minute Clay Mask. Read on to get a top-to-bottom rundown on what Geologie is calling the “spa day in a bottle.”

Geologie’s Micro Exfoliator and 3 Minute Clay Mask: Three-in-One

As someone who struggles to multi-task, Geologie nailing three in one is something to brag about. Here’s a breakdown of the three components of Geologie’s Micro Exfoliator and 3 Minute Clay Mask and how they’re working in tandem to bring you buffed and brilliant skin.

  1. Facial Exfoliator – Geologie’s exfoliation formula consists of two different forces at play at the same time. There are gentle micro exfoliators to smoothen and soften the skin, while a triple play of intentional acids tag team a deep clean of your face’s pores (more on the all-star team of ingredients in a minute). Application is as easy as dedicating 30 seconds a week to lightly massage the formula into your skin and you’re set.
  2. Facial Mask – Using kaolin and bentonite clays to calm and detoxify irritated skin, Geologie’s facial mask component is working hard to absorb excess oils and minimize the appearance of pores for smooth and even skin tone. If you’ve done a mask before, you’ll figure this one out in no time. Apply a thin layer to your clean face. Enjoy the warming sensation for a bit and you’re good to go! For those with a speedy routine, you’ll be happy to know that the mask treatment only needs three minutes to do its magic.
  3. Body Exfoliator – Geologie takes all the solid scientific and successful processes used on your face and urges you to apply the benefits to the rest of your skin as well. That’s right, it’s good to use anywhere. They suggest taking a minute to apply lightly to your shoulders or back while you’re waiting for the facial mask to finish up its work.

Geologie’s Difference

This all sounds great, right? Well, we haven’t gotten to the part that really makes Geologie’s newest serum stand out among the competition. Like a lot of other products on the market, exfoliants are all too often used way more than they should be. In actuality, an exfoliant is more of a once-a-week application versus using every single day. I’m sure it won’t take too much imagination to picture what an over-exfoliated face looks like. Ever seen The Mummy?

On the other hand, we have the face mask treatment, which is what most people either strongly underuse or simply don’t use at all. I’ll be honest, I’ve probably applied three or four face masks in my life and each of them was used because someone told me I had to.

How does Geologie juggle these two realities? This is where scientifically proven ingredients and formulations come into play. Geologie formulated this unique blend to be used over a single week, combined all of the steps you’d find using multiple products, and condensed them down into easy steps for glowing skin. We’re talking once a week, twice max. Can you make it happen in your schedule?

Geologie's Micro Exfoliator and 3 Minute Clay Mask Ingredients

Who’s Who in the Field

Before we go, let’s quickly run through Geologie’s varsity roster of high-quality and proven ingredients that work together to make Geologie’s Micro Exfoliator and 3 Minute Clay Mask.

The exfoliating components of the formula rely on three equally important acids to improve and strengthen skin. Lactic acid is a safe but potent acid employed that specifically stimulates collagen growth to give the impression of younger-looking skin. Glycolic acid, the smallest in size of the three players, is a gentle warrior working carefully to exfoliate pores and achieve the desired smooth glow. Salicylic acid is the heavy-hitting exfoliator of the triple threat team, working hard to reduce the natural oils in your skin while targeting acne from the inside out.

Balancing out these hard-working acids are the two aforementioned clays. Kaolin and bentonite clays are ingredients from the natural world that are used to absorb excess oil on your skin while rebalancing skin tone and preventing acne. Like all other formulations, these ingredients fall under the scrutiny of Geologie’s lead dermatologist, Dr. Steve Xu. Safe to say they all got an A+!
