Once, the galaxy was at peace. A republic governed the wide system of planets, comprised of representatives from every culture, city, and species.
The Jedi maintained law and order, and the force flowed through all life, as it always has and always will.
But dark powers began to stir. Emperor Palpatine, having fed too long from the dark side of the force, unveiled his true identity as Lord of the Sith, collapsed the Republic into an Empire and executed all the Jedi.
Many grew scared. They shrank back in fear and allowed the empire to enact totalitarian power throughout the galaxy, crushing dissenters and running roughshod over any who stood in their way.
But others resisted. Comprised of certain select leaders of the old republic, the Rebel Alliance banded together to form a resistance to the Empire. Through their underground tactics and guerilla warfare, they began to disrupt the Empire’s activities. They kept alive belief in the force, and soon, the Jedi found their way to their bases.
