In the early 1990s, cartoons exploded in popularity and quickly became the number one form of entertainment for children. Every kid loves a good animated show while many also cater to adolescents. There are even thought-provoking animated flicks and series filling in the gaps of significant media franchises, like Star Wars.
One of our favorite types of cartoons is stoner cartoons. These hilarious shows are perfect for anyone who smokes cannabis or enjoys eating weed cookies and edibles. Stoner cartoons feature all the stereotypical stoner jokes but often tell interesting, complex, and relatable stories.
Then you have classic kid shows that might be for children but will have pot smokers entertained and tripping out for hours. There’s nothing like firing up a bong and settling in for a night of cartoons and munchies. So here are some of our favorite stoner cartoons we think those who love the green will enjoy.
1. South Park (1997-Present)
The cultural phenomenon South Park debuted on Comedy Central in 1997 to universal acclaim. Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the critically praised and controversial series is known for its dark humor and pop culture references. The plot follows four best friends, Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny, living in the town of South Park, Colorado.
The hilarious characters, storylines, and animation will keep stoners glued to the screen. Many episodes even revolve around cannabis. while the season five episode “Towelie” introduced the pot-smoking towel, Towelie, who joins the boys in retrieving a video console. The series follows the misadventures of mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his grandson, Morty, as they travel through space and time. The two slacker best friends often find themselves in surreal and supernatural situations. If that’s not enough, their boss Benson is a gumball machine, and the park manager is a lollipop. Their coworkers include Hi-Five Ghost, Muscle Man, and Skips, a yeti. It sounds mental and that’s exactly what this show is, but it will have you in stitches, especially after a few puffs.
10. Aqua Teen Hunger Force (2000-Present)
There’s a good chance the creators of Aqua Teen Hunger Force intended this animated series for stoners. The series happens to revolve around the staples of every stoner’s favorite meal.
The plot follows the lives of anthropomorphic fast-food menu items Frylock, Meatwad, and Master Shake. The three best friends go on a series of surreal and out-of-this-world adventures. Stoners will fall in love with the series while having intense munchies all at the same time.
11. Samurai Jack (2001-2017)
Few animated series compare with the Primetime Emmy Award-winning series Samurai Jack. The series revolves around a prince with a magical katana who is on the verge of defeating the evil Aku when a shapeshifting demon sends the prince to a distant and bleak future.
Adapting the name “Jack,” the prince sets out to return to his timeline and defeat Aku. The immensely popular series was an instant hit with fans, with the complex story and adult humor appealing to older audiences.
12. Hey Arnold! (1996-2004)
The animated series Hey Arnold! debuted on Nickelodeon in 1996 to rave reviews. It instantly became one of the most popular cartoons on television. The series follows a nine-year-old street-smart kid, Arnold Shortman, and his friends living in Hillwood, Washington.

American Dad centers on CIA agent Stan Smith and his family, including their pet goldfish Klaus and deceitful alien, Roger. The series focuses on odd characters dealing with relatable everyday problems using surreal and slapstick humor. It makes even better watching when you have a smoke.
14. Looney Tunes (1930-Present)
A talking rabbit outsmarting a hunter and a coyote using gadgets to kill a roadrunner, Looney Tunes has everything a stoner needs from a TV show. The series first debuted in the 1930s and has since aired in different formats.
The series features some of the most iconic cartoon characters, including Daffy Duck, The Road Runner, and Porky Pig. The most famous star is the wise-cracking, carrot-eating anthropomorphic rabbit Bugs Bunny. The classic cartoon is easily one of the best stoner cartoons for all generations of smokers.
