Men’s 5.11 Tactical Apex Waterproof Boots Review – 8 Inch eVent BBP Footwear
With Kevlar, full-grain leather, and an eVent BBP membrane lining, these 5.11 Tactical boots are built for the toughest missions in mind. On the outside, the 5.11 Tactical Apex boots offer a seriously refined and rugged look, yet still, manage to provide an interior that’s incredibly comfortable on the foot. While there are two color options, dark coyote and black, dark coyote was my favorite choice.
Regardless of which you go with, the full-grain waterproof exterior leather is stunning. Best of all, the easy-polish nature of it makes hiding scrapes and scratches a painless process. With a substantial 8” shaft height (approx.) the Apex men’s boot offers plenty of above ankles and lower leg coverage. For when I want that added security around my feet, this is my go-to choice.
For an insane amount of grip, it doesn’t get any better than the fully resoleable VIBRAM Megagrip outsole. The tread pattern is uniquely aggressive inspiring a ton of confidence over hard rock, loose dirt, wet pavement and beyond. While there are a lot of different outsole designs out there, these offer a true tactical feel that’s hard to find. In other words, they grip the ground like glue.

Men’s 5.11 Tactical Apex Waterproof Boots Review
Concerning foot comfort, 5.11 Tactical has done a brilliant job thanks to the unique D30 Lite EVA Midsole. The D30 support footbed offers plenty of arch and heel support to help deaden the impact of each step. After taking these lace-up boots out for a spin outdoors, the comfort level remained top notch. For a company that doesn’t manufacture boots exclusively, I have to say that I was highly impressed.
Other details I enjoyed included a leather embossed 5.11 Tactical logo at the rear of each boot. Of course, heavy-duty metal hardware for the laces adds for a nice touch of durability. Speaking of longevity, the Kevlar reinforced heel alongside double stitching gives me plenty of confidence that the Apex boot can take a severe beating.
While it was quite extraordinary to see Kevlar added to these boots, the eVent BBP membrane lining was another excellent touch to find. The waterproof and breathable membrane goes beyond just waterproofing; instead, it also offers bloodborne pathogen resistance.
The Apex is one tactical boot that looks as battle-ready as it actually is.
